DURWA COATING
The Durwa Coat process of electrolytically depositing chromium onto base metals augments components with the following properties:
Surface hardness 70 Rockwell C
Coefficient of friction
Resistance to the wear mechanisms of abrasion, adhesion and erosion.
A number of mining houses have applied the process to new components such as impellers, shafts and volute casings. This has extended the life of these parts way beyond their normal maintenance intervals.
Particular success has been realized in the reconditioning of stainless steel ball and plug valves, although the procedure can be applied to almost any material and equipment.
BUSINESS POTENTIAL
The future potential of the business is unlimited, given that maintenance and replacement costs are rapidly increasing.
For example, a valve may be reconditioned
by Prolong Pumps & Valves for a fraction of its replacement cost. In addition to
this, by Durwa Coating a valve, its life expectancy will be greatly extended.
Through effective Prolong involvement in plant maintenance, down time is reduced and
productivity increased.
